Hypertherm Plasma Cutters

Victory’s Hypertherm plasma cutter selection includes conventional Powermax air plasma or liquid-cooled, dual-gas MAXPRO200 plasma. Hypertherm’s unmatched X-Definition, True Hole XPR170, XPR300, and XPR460 bring the best, near-laser-quality plasma cutting available in today’s market. Bolt-ready holes in Mild Steel. Super thick and fast cutting for Stainless Steel and aluminum.

The revolutionary XPR® plasma stands as a groundbreaking leap in mechanized plasma cutting technology. This cutting-edge system transforms the possibilities of plasma cutting by broadening its capabilities to unprecedented levels. Boasting unparalleled X-Definition® cut quality on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, XPR not only accelerates cut speed but also boosts productivity and slashes operating expenses significantly. In addition, its user-friendly features and meticulously engineered system optimization streamline operations, requiring minimal operator involvement while delivering peak performance and unrivaled reliability.

Powermax® is the world’s most versatile family of portable plasma cutters, delivering maximum productivity and unmatched reliability when incorporated in a Victory Mechanized System. With the industry’s most extensive automated cutting and marking, customers can confidently tackle any job with superior cut quality and minimize secondary operations – at a lower total cost of ownership. The best in the nation is worth the investment!

Conventional Air Plasma v. X-Definition Plasma

X-Definition plasma cutters provide little edge taper, virtually no dross, and make oxide-free cuts on Mild Steel. X-Definition plasma offers far better edge quality on Stainless Steel and aluminum than conventional plasma. Conventional air plasma shows more edge taper and some dross.

Our conventional plasmas include the air-cooled Hypertherm Powermax Line. The dual gas, liquid-cooled Hypertherm MAXPRO200 can be operated with air/air or air/ox-n2.

X-Definition plasmas include the Hypertherm XPR170, XPR300, and XPR460 power supplies with Autogas. X-Def machines utilize Cool Nozzle and Vent–to–Shield Technology, providing extremely good consumable life. XPRs are automatic and require far less operator skill.

Consumables

Consumables refer to the stacked copper components at the torch tip, which create and control the plasma column. These components are worn away during the piercing/cutting process. Hypertherm consumables last, on average, 3-4 times longer than all other brands, particularly high-amperage consumables. XPR consumables are liquid-cooled all the way down to the shield cap.

Cut Capacity

The term ‘production cut’ refers to the best cut possible for a particular amperage. When it is said an X-Definition plasma cutter has a 1/2” Production cut for mild steel using 130A, that means you can expect a X-definition cut in 1/2” mild steel. Cuts can be made much faster than Production cuts with a higher amperage, sacrificing some cut quality. This practice is often used when squaring plates or cutting parts with large holes. Maximum pierce & cut push the limits of the machine and sacrifice some cut quality. Edge starting methods are used when the severing plate is thicker than the rated piercing ability.

Air-Cooled v. Liquid-Cooled

Conventional air plasmas like the Powermax line, use compressed air to cut and cool the consumables via airflow. The conventional MaxPro machine and all X-Definition plasmas use liquid coolant inside the torch receptacle, torch and torch lead, which extends the torch and consumable life and enables 100% duty cycle operation.
